Natural Remedies for Separation Anxiety?

I have a 9 year old husky mix that suffers from severe separation anxiety (as in breaking closes glass windows, tearing out screens, jumping out 2nd story window, puddle of drool at the door every day when I come, neighbors complaining of barking & howling & clawing at window for hours). I am working on behavior modification and desensitization. He is on Clomicalm but when he takes enough to help he will drink huge amounts of water so I can only give it in small doses.
I know of a lot of natural and herbal remedies but I would really like to hear someone’s experience with what natural remedies helped their dog or did not help their dog. I would appreciate answers only from people who have personally used these products with their dogs. Thanks.
I give my dog a Kong stuffed with peanut butter and treats every day before I leave for work. I don’t let him start eating it until I walk out the door. He will calmly finish the Kong but then freak out when he’s done. I am working on all of the training aspects of separation anxiety but due to the severity I think a combination of meds and training would be way more helpful.
He had separation anxiety when I first got him when he was young. We did all the training & meds and weaned him off meds and he was fine for 5 years w/o any major problems. Then my fiance (the dogs owner) died and my dog is freaking out again and it’s worse than ever, which makes sense but is still a problem.
If my dog didn’t have a strong bond with me he wouldn’t care when I left him alone! Huskies need huge amounts of exercise and I know he doesn’t get enough but I do the best I can. I now have 1 income instead of 2 and am stuck caring for all of my pets without any help. I would love to not have to leave him home alone all day but unfortunately that’s not really an option.

Rescue Remedy seems to work very well.
You can use it on yourself as well. I work at a shelter and we give this to the dogs that are suffering with severe anxiety and it works great! The dogs calm down, stop pacing and barking, and seem overall more happier and calm.

I haven’t used any medication or things of that sort on my dogs.
But, have you tried giving your dog a kong before you leave? How much exercise does he/she get?
Sorry if this doesn’t help or answer your question

You spend more time with the dog and exercise it every day so you get a great bond everyday even you leave the dog alone . . .
